Summer Serenade

CCH International Women’s Day

Thursday, 8 March 2018         10.00 am – 12.00 pm

Community Central Hall is holding a free of charge morning to celebrate International Women’s Day. There will be stalls on health and wellbeing, jewellery making and arts and crafts. Tea, coffee and cakes will also be served.

 

Hear to Help

Friday, 16 March 2018         10.00 am – 12.00 pm

Hear to Help is a hearing aid support drop-in session. Action on Hearing Loss Scotland’s audiology-trained Hear to Help volunteers clean and re-tube NHS hearing aids and provide new batteries to help local people to follow conversations with their family and friends.

Meet Douglas: Volunteer Kitchen Assistant

Douglas has been a volunteer at Community Central Hall since 2011.

Before joining CCH, Douglas worked in a travel agency for 27 years. In 2010, Douglas moved on to work at his local Church, helping with the tea rooms two mornings a week and taking care of the premises. Douglas has been working as a part-time care worker for the past 8 years, his main duty is to provide home support.

In 2011, Douglas visited the volunteer centre who had a catalogue of volunteer opportunities within Glasgow. It was there where Douglas found out about Community Central Hall.

Action Day 2018

‘On the 14th of February, Happy Days Nursery’s Eco Committee organised Action Day. This was part of their campaign to encourage the community to be more conscious of the environment.

The Eco Committee aimed to raise awareness of the litter that is found on the streets. This was to Highlight the impact litter has on young children as they make way to school and nursery. Children, parents and people from the community participated in the Action Day litter pick.

Chinese New Year Celebrations at Community Central Hall

Chinese New Year marks the beginning of the first month in the Chinese lunar calendar. On the 16th of February people around the world will be celebrating the Year of the Dog.

The Chinese Community Development Partnership (CCDP) in Glasgow have organised a Chinese New Year event on the Sunday the 18th of February. Last year Community Central Hall was part of CCDPs successful event which had over 400 people attending!

Saheliya: Making a Difference

Thursday, 8 February 2018            9:30 am – 3.00 pm

Saheliya  promotes positive mental well-being of black and minority ethnic (BME) women and girls who are affected by mental health issues. They are here to help  women through various services they operate within Glasgow including counselling, complementary therapies and support work. Saheliya have organised the Making a Difference conference for BME women affected by gender based violence.
